Axanthic
This is a hybrid Axanthic Carpet Python – an animal with a mixed subspecies background carrying the recessive Axanthic mutation. At StarPythons, Axanthics listed without a subspecies qualifier (such as "pure Coastal" or "pure IJ") are animals whose lineage includes more than one Morelia spilota subspecies.
Hybrid Axanthics display the characteristic silver-grey to charcoal palette with reduced yellow pigmentation. The exact shade and contrast depend on the individual's genetic background – but it is worth noting that the lightest, most striking Axanthics, those approaching near-white silver with sharp black contrast, are almost exclusively found among hybrid lines.
As a proven recessive morph, hybrid Axanthics are versatile building blocks for multi-gene projects such as Ghost, Snow, or Moonglow.
