Caramel het Granite
This Caramel het Granite is visually a standard Caramel – warm bronze and gold tones with reduced dark pigmentation. The Granite allele is carried in heterozygous form and is not visible. Het status is determined through documented parentage.
Caramel is intermediately inherited and originates from Coastal Carpet Pythons (M. s. mcdowelli). Granite is recessive and originates from Irian Jaya (M. s. harrisoni). The presence of both lineages means this animal has a mixed subspecies background.
The hidden Granite allele provides breeding value for producing visual Caramel Granites – a combination of warm Caramel tones with Granite's characteristic pattern fragmentation. Paired with another het Granite, statistically 25% of offspring will be visual Granites.
