Jaguar het Albino
This animal is a visual Jaguar carrying the Albino allele in heterozygous form. Visually, it displays the characteristic Jaguar phenotype – warm yellow-ocher ground with fragmented dark markings. The Albino het status is not visible and is determined through documented parentage.
Jaguar is intermediately inherited from Coastal (M. s. mcdowelli). Albino is recessive from Darwin (M. s. variegata). This animal has a mixed subspecies background.
The hidden Albino allele provides breeding value for producing Albino Jaguars – a combination where Albino removes all dark pigment from the Jaguar pattern, creating a vivid yellow-cream animal with softened pattern remnants. As with all Jaguar combinations, mild head wobble may be present – a neurological trait associated with the Jaguar mutation that does not affect the animal's quality of life.
