Granite Jaguar het Axanthic
This animal is a visual Granite Jaguar carrying the Axanthic allele in heterozygous form. Visually, Granite's pattern fragmentation combines with Jaguar's pattern disruption to produce a lighter, highly irregular animal with dissolved banding. The Axanthic het status is not visible and is determined through documented parentage.
Granite originates from Irian Jaya (M. s. harrisoni) and Jaguar from Coastal (M. s. mcdowelli). This is a documented subspecies cross.
The hidden Axanthic allele adds breeding value for producing Axanthic Granite Jaguars – a triple-morph combination where Axanthic suppresses yellow, creating a cool, monochromatic version of the already fragmented Granite Jaguar phenotype. As with all Jaguar combinations, mild head wobble may be present – a neurological trait associated with the Jaguar mutation that does not affect the animal's quality of life.
