Hypo Caramel het Axanthic
This Hypo Caramel het Axanthic is visually a Hypo Caramel – an extremely light, warm-toned animal from the double melanin reduction of two independent mutations. In addition, this animal carries the Axanthic allele in heterozygous form. Het status is not visible and is determined through documented parentage.
Both Hypo and Caramel are intermediately inherited and originate from Coastal Carpet Pythons (M. s. mcdowelli). Axanthic is recessive. Without a "pure Coastal" label, this animal has a mixed subspecies background.
The hidden Axanthic allele adds significant breeding value for producing Hypo Caramel Axanthic offspring – a combination where three different pigment-reducing mechanisms act simultaneously. Caramel Axanthic is not a Ghost (Ghost = Hypo + Axanthic exclusively), and Hypo Caramel is not a Sunglow (Sunglow = Hypo + Albino exclusively).
