Granite het Axanthic
This animal is a visual Granite carrying the Axanthic allele in heterozygous form. Visually, it displays the characteristic Granite pattern fragmentation. The Axanthic het status is not visible and is determined through documented parentage.
Granite originates from Irian Jaya (M. s. harrisoni). Depending on the Axanthic line (Coastal or Papuan/IJ), this animal may or may not involve a subspecies cross. If the Axanthic allele is from the Papuan/IJ line, both genes originate from M. s. harrisoni, and the combination can be subspecies-pure.
The hidden Axanthic allele provides breeding value for producing visual Axanthic Granites – a double-recessive combination producing a high-contrast monochromatic phenotype with deep charcoal clusters on cool grey. Without a "pure IJ" label, this animal has a mixed subspecies background.
