This animal is double heterozygous for Albino and Axanthic – the two recessive components of Snow (Morelia spilota). Visually, it appears as a normal carpet python. Neither the Albino nor the Axanthic allele is visible in heterozygous form. Het status is determined through documented parentage.
Albino originates from Darwin Carpet Pythons (M. s. variegata), Axanthic from Coastal or Papuan lineage (M. s. mcdowelli or M. s. harrisoni). The combination of different subspecies backgrounds means this animal is a documented cross.
Paired with another dblhet Snow, the statistical probability of a visual Snow offspring is 1 in 16 (6.25%). Snow (Albino + Axanthic) is one of the most sought-after double-recessive combinations in the Morelia spilota complex – a nearly white animal with minimal pigmentation.
