This Granite het Axanthic is from a documented pure Irian Jaya lineage (M. s. harrisoni). Visually, it displays the characteristic Granite pattern fragmentation. The Axanthic allele (Papuan/IJ line) is carried in heterozygous form and is not visible. Het status is determined through documented parentage.

Both Granite and the Papuan Axanthic line originate from M. s. harrisoni – this is one of the few double-recessive projects achievable without subspecies crossing. The pure IJ status means no subspecies crossing has occurred in this animal's documented lineage.

The hidden Axanthic allele opens the path to pure IJ Axanthic Granites – a subspecies-pure double-recessive combination producing a high-contrast monochromatic phenotype. Paired with another Granite het Axanthic (pure IJ), statistically 25% of offspring will be visual Axanthic Granites.
