This animal is double heterozygous (dblhet) for both Axanthic and Granite. Visually, it appears as a normal carpet python – neither allele produces a visible phenotype in heterozygous form, as both are recessive. Het status is determined through documented parentage.

Both Axanthic (Papuan/IJ line) and Granite originate from M. s. harrisoni. If both alleles are from documented pure IJ lineage, this animal can be part of a subspecies-pure Axanthic Granite project – one of the few double-recessive combinations achievable without subspecies crossing.

Paired with another dblhet Axanthic Granite, the statistical probability of a visual Axanthic Granite in each offspring is 1 in 16 (6.25%). Visual Axanthic Granites produce a high-contrast monochromatic phenotype – deep charcoal clusters on cool grey.
