This Hypo Zebra Jaguar het Axanthic is visually a Hypo Zebra Jaguar – a softened, warm-toned version of the high-contrast Zebra Jaguar with fragmented banding in pale ocher-cream. The Axanthic allele is carried in heterozygous form and is not visible. Het status is determined through documented parentage.
Hypo and Jaguar originate from Coastal (M. s. mcdowelli), Zebra from Jungle (M. s. cheynei) – a documented multi-subspecies cross. All visible mutations are intermediately inherited; Axanthic is recessive.
The hidden Axanthic allele enables production of Ghost Zebra Jaguars (Hypo + Axanthic + Zebra + Jaguar) – one of the most complex combinations in the Morelia spilota complex. As with all Jaguar combinations, mild head wobble may be present – a neurological trait associated with the Jaguar mutation that does not affect the animal's quality of life.
