Hypo Caramel
The Hypo Caramel combines two independently inherited melanin-reducing mutations, both from Coastal Carpet Pythons (M. s. mcdowelli): Hypo and Caramel. These operate through different genetic pathways on separate loci – Hypo reduces melanin production via downregulated tyrosinase expression, while Caramel reduces melanin through an independent mechanism. The double reduction produces an extremely light, warm-toned animal with minimal dark pigmentation.
Both mutations are intermediately inherited: one copy of each = visual expression. Super forms of both are possible and combinable for even further melanin reduction. Hypo Caramel is not a Sunglow (Sunglow = Hypo + Albino exclusively).
Without a "pure Coastal" label, this animal has a mixed subspecies background. Hypo and Caramel are not identical, not allelic, and not interchangeable – they are distinct mutations that happen to both reduce melanin.
