Jaguar dblhet Axanthic Granite
This animal is a visual Jaguar carrying both the Axanthic and Granite alleles in heterozygous form. Visually, it displays the characteristic Jaguar phenotype. The Axanthic and Granite het status is not visible and is determined through documented parentage.
Jaguar is intermediately inherited from Coastal (M. s. mcdowelli). Axanthic and Granite are both recessive; Granite originates from Irian Jaya (M. s. harrisoni). This animal has a mixed subspecies background.
The double het status provides breeding value toward Axanthic Granite Jaguar – a triple-morph combination producing a near-white to pale grey animal with unpredictable dark markings and no trace of the original banding. As with all Jaguar combinations, mild head wobble may be present – a neurological trait associated with the Jaguar mutation that does not affect the animal's quality of life.
