Caramel Jaguar het Axanthic
The Caramel Jaguar het Axanthic is visually a Caramel Jaguar – warm bronze and gold tones with fragmented, open dorsal patterning. In addition, this animal carries the Axanthic allele in heterozygous form. Het status is not visible and is determined through documented parentage.
Both Caramel and Jaguar are intermediately inherited and originate from Coastal Carpet Pythons (M. s. mcdowelli). Axanthic is recessive. Without a "pure Coastal" label, this animal has a mixed subspecies background.
The hidden Axanthic allele adds breeding value for producing Caramel Axanthic Jaguars – a triple-morph combination where Axanthic removes yellow from the warm Caramel palette, creating a cool, desaturated appearance with Jaguar pattern fragmentation. Caramel Axanthic is not a Ghost (Ghost = Hypo + Axanthic exclusively). As with all Jaguar combinations, mild head wobble may be present – a neurological trait associated with the Jaguar mutation that does not affect the animal's quality of life.
