Hypo (pure Coastal)
This Hypo is from a documented pure Coastal lineage (M. s. mcdowelli). Hypo reduces melanin production without eliminating it – dark pigmentation is diminished, allowing warm tones (yellow, orange) to dominate. The pure Coastal status means no subspecies crossing has occurred in this animal's documented lineage.
Phenotypic variability is high; line selection is critical for consistent quality. Hatchlings are often strikingly orange or red, settling into lemon or orange with a characteristic green tinge as adults. One copy = visual Hypo; two copies = Super Hypo.
Hypo is intermediately inherited – every carrier shows the phenotype. There is no hidden het status as with recessive morphs. This subspecies-pure Hypo is the foundation for all-Coastal combination projects like pure Coastal Ghost (Hypo + Axanthic) or pure Coastal Hypo Jaguar.
